3 Receive your results
GCSE results day falls on a nationally confirmed date each year: for summer exams this is generally the third Thursday in August, when grades are published across all subjects and exam boards at the same time.
As a private candidate sitting GCSE Chinese, your results will be issued through your exam centre. Contact them ahead of results day to confirm how they provide results, as this varies - some centres require collection in person, while others will send them by email or post.

Paper 1 - Listening
Topics
Listening across five topic areas: home and abroad, education and employment, personal life and relationships, the world around us, and social activities, fitness and health.
Format
Seven tasks based on recorded texts, each heard twice. Question styles include multiple-choice, multiple-matching, note-taking and gap-fill, with answers written in English.
Paper 2 - Reading and Writing
Topics
Reading and writing across the same five topic areas, covering everyday situations, personal themes, wider society and social activities.
Format
Section A assesses reading through multiple-choice, note-taking, gap-fill and short-answer tasks. Section B includes two writing tasks and one translation from English into Chinese.
Paper 3 - Speaking
Topics
Speaking across the five topic areas, using a student-selected picture-based discussion and two conversations on randomly selected topics.
Format
Task A is a picture-based discussion. Tasks B and C are two conversations on different topics, completed as one continuous assessment arranged with your exam centre.
