2 The Number 1 A Level Law Course

Initial Assessment

Begin with a short diagnostic task that establishes where you're currently at with A Level Law, giving you a clear starting point before you dive into the full course.

Continue Learning

Work through slides, worked examples and practice questions covering the legal knowledge, case law and argument-building skills needed across every topic in the syllabus.

Topic Tests

Check your understanding as you go with short tests after each topic. The online Law course uses your results to flag any areas worth revisiting before you move on.

Instantly Marked Mock Exams

Sit full mock papers marked instantly and accurately to examiner standard, with pinpointed feedback that shows exactly where to improve before your A Level Law exam.

3 Sit your exam

In the run-up to your exam, we'll send you full confirmation of the date, time and location for each paper, along with everything else you need to know beforehand. This gives you the chance to get familiar with the exam rules and prepare with confidence. On the day, you'll attend your local exam centre and sit your written papers in person, alongside other candidates from across the UK.

4 Receive your results

A Level results day is Thursday 12th August 2027, when learners across every subject and exam board find out their grades together.

As a private candidate, your results will usually come from your exam centre rather than directly from us. Centres vary in how they issue grades, so it's worth checking beforehand whether you'll need to collect them in person, or whether they'll be emailed or posted to you.

5 Take the next step. It all starts with a Pass.

An A Level in Law can lead on to a law degree, the solicitor or barrister route, apprenticeships in legal or paralegal work, or careers across the wider public sector, policy and criminal justice fields. If you're weighing up other subjects alongside Law, Pass's online A Level courses can help you compare your options.

How many UCAS points is this A Level Law exam worth?

A Level Law carries up to 56 UCAS points, the same tariff that applies across all A Level subjects. Points are awarded as follows: 56 for A*, 48 for A, 40 for B, 32 for C, 24 for D and 16 for E.

Are there any entry requirements for the A Level Law exam?

There’s no formal requirement to have studied Law before, since it’s rarely offered at GCSE. That said, a GCSE grade 4 or C in English or a related subject such as History or Sociology is a helpful foundation before taking on the A Level.

Which exam board does Pass offer A Level Law through?

Pass currently offers A Level Law through OCR (H418). For a board-neutral UK reference, GOV.UK’s A Level Law subject content sets out the subject content required across GCE AS and A Level Law specifications.

Can I book an A Level Law resit as a private candidate?

Yes. You can book an A Level Law resit as an external or private candidate, and Pass will help arrange your exam entry at a suitable centre. For learners comparing private-candidate options across subjects, Pass’s A Level exam booking page explains how private entries work more broadly.

Does A Level Law include coursework?

No. OCR A Level Law (H418) is assessed entirely through three written examinations, with no coursework, controlled assessment or practical component to complete.

Can I sit my Law A Level online?

No. All A Level Law papers must be sat in person at a registered exam centre. Pass will confirm your centre details ahead of your exam date. For other subjects, Pass offers both exam booking and an online course bundle through A Levels online, though exams themselves are always in person.
